ART DOCS BENEFIT - After Party

Thursday
April 8, 2004 : 10:30pmLive at The Big Top
1638 Clio Street, New Orleans, LA.

Heather Weathers will be performing @ssprint Wallpaper. ARTDOCS was founded in June 1999 by Dr. Vince Morelli and artist/gallery owner Jonathan Ferrara to address a critical need in the New Orleans arts community: struggling visual artists, writers and performing artists who need both routine and emergency health care without the means to afford services or even basic healthcare insurance. ARTDOCS has given the members of New Orleans creative community a place to turn to address their often-overlooked health concerns. All ARTDOCS staffing, event planning and administration is done by volunteers. All funds raised are dedicated to the medical needs of the artists. Toys in Babeland
94 Rivington St., New York, NY.
August 1 - September 30, 2001

In collaboration with the fabulous women's sex store Toys in Babeland,
The Exhibitionists will be presenting their plaster Boob Ornaments
in a 2-month-long exhibition at the NYC location. 'Each of the plaster boob ornaments has been cast from an Exhibitionist's own breast.
The ornaments range in size, shape and creative vision. Gathered in a cluster, they are
reminiscent of Diana of Ephesus and the multitude of breasts that hung from her
chest symbolizing fertility. The Roman and Greek versions of Diana [or Artemis]
portray her as an independent spirit, goddess of the moon and the hunt, and protector
of women and children. In our modern interpretation of this myth, we wish to celebrate
breasts as representations of our female-ness, our strength and our art. Additionally,
we intend for these ornaments to serve symbols for increasing breast health awareness.
And finally, as casts of our own breasts, separate from our bodies, the collaboration
becomes an in-your-face mockery of a history of bad jokes and
negative objectification of our tits.'

Boob Ornaments by:
Erin Burgess, Caroline Carley, Jen Deaderick, Nikki Johnson
Fay Ku, Jen Laskey, Allison Ryan, Stacy Wakefield, Anne Wallenfang and Heather Weathers.
